The memorial edition of Berserk: The Golden Age Arc is confirmed to premiere on October 1!
Berserk was originally a notable manga series, written and illustrated by the late Japanese author Kentaro Miura. Miura’s acclaimed dark fantasy series Berserk began publication in 1989 and continued until his death. It follows the dark and tragic story of Gutz and the Band of the Hawk set in a medieval fantasy world.
OLM studio adapted Berserk into a 25-episode anime television series covering the Golden Age narrative arc, which aired from October 1997 to March 1998. The Golden Age arc has also been produced into a trilogy of theatrical anime films, the first two of which debuted in 2012 and the third in 2013. A second 24-episode adaption of the Berserk anime television series aired for two seasons in 2016 and 2017.
Previously, a Memorial Edition of the renowned Berserk: The Golden Age Arc series will premiere on October 1. The Memorial Edition will be a TV edit of the film trilogy with enhancements and additions. While the previous Berserk trilogy film received scathing reviews due to CGI issues, fans became optimistic upon knowing that the previous trilogy film would be improved in the Memorial Edition. Berserk: The Golden Age Arc – Memorial Edition will also be part of Aniplex Online Fest, hinting that there may be further news to anticipate.
Berserk is widely acknowledged as one of the greatest manga series. Upon Kentaro Miura’s passing, fans have expressed their grief at the loss of one of the most influential Japanese manga artists. The last issue of Berserk was published in September 2021, four months after the demise of the author. Fortunately, Berserk will continue under the supervision of manga creator Kouji Mori, Kentaro Miura’s colleague, and childhood friend.
